Meet Co-Founders/Trainers

Gina Abbondante, LCSW

She/her

Gina began her education at Rider University, with a Bachelors of Psychology and concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience. She went on to obtain a Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University in 2009, and completed her clinical licensure in 2012. During that time, she worked for Virtua Hospital’s The Center for Women in Lumberton. There, Gina counseled women experiencing anxiety and depression during pregnancy and postpartum, infertility, pregnancy/infant loss, and birth trauma.

Gina’s specialty and passion is treating anxiety disorders and OCD, particularly in pregnancy and postpartum. She is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Inference-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, as well as Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. In addition to treating clients, Gina also provides clinical supervision for LSWs and LACs looking to obtain clinical licensure, and consultation for training and tough cases.

Gina believes in approaching therapy in an authentic and relatable way. She often feels amazed by the resiliency of people, and our ability to make changes if given the tools and space. In her free time, Gina enjoys spending time outside on her horse farm to keep her grounded, chasing her chickens and kids (both human and goat).

Bronwyn Shroyer, LCSW

She/her

Bronwyn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience. Her practice focuses on treating those with OCD, PTSD, and/or infidelity trauma. Bronwyn believes that therapists should always keep learning which is why she spends a lot of time reading up on emerging treatments, sitting in consultation with experts, and learning from her fellow therapists.

Bronwyn uses evidence-based treatments such as Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for OCD and is currently learning Metacognitive Therapy. In her work with OCD+PTSD she also leans on her trauma training using modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), and ego-states parts work in her practice. Bronwyn is an EMDR Approved Consultant and EMDR Certified Therapist. She also provides I-CBT consultation and consultation around working with OCD+PTSD.

Katie Marrotte, LCSW

She/they

Katie is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in the treatment of OCD. Katie has a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Health and Mental Health from the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. Social work focuses not just on pathology, but also looks at human development through a lens of policy, social justice, and social welfare to give a more complete look at factors affecting people on a grander scale. This background in social justice contributes to her passion for pursuing a more robust set of skills for treating OCD, as well as advocating for multifaceted treatment approaches and competency for OCD specialists.

Katie also runs a private practice offering Inference-Based CBT and Exposure Response Prevention for OCD. Katie believes that the most effective approach for treating OCD should be evidence based, multifaceted, and most importantly, informed by the needs of the client.

When not serving clients, Katie runs a small permaculture farmstead with her partner from their colonial home. She is also an accomplished forager, mushroom hunter, and apprentice falconer.

Andrea Prevett, BSc, DClinPsy, CPsychol

She/her

Dr. Andrea Prevett is a UK-based clinical psychologist with 20 years of experience and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and a postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Additionally, she is an EMDR therapist and a BABCP accredited CBT therapist.

Andrea began her career by combining her work in the NHS with private practice before transitioning to full-time private practice in 2015. (She is the founder of Vale Coast Psychology and OCD Clinic, based in the UK). She specializes in supporting adults experiencing symptoms and distress related to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Andrea has a particular interest in OCD treatment and is passionate about providing innovative and effective therapies. Alongside traditional CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), she specializes in Inference-Based CBT, offering clients an alternative evidence-based approach. Her practice also integrates elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to deliver a personalized therapeutic experience.

Andrea is also committed to supporting other professionals in the field, offering supervision and consultation for clinicians, particularly in the areas of OCD, anxiety disorders, CBT and ICBT.

Our Advisory Board

Stacy Shaup, PhD

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Stacy Shaup is a licensed clinical psychologist who has devoted her professional life of over 17 years to treating individuals with OCD, BFRBs, BDD, and anxiety disorders with care and compassion. She was honored to provide treatment at the very first OCD specialty group practice in South Florida (the OCD Resource Center of Florida) for 10 years and has owned and operated her own private practice for the past 7 years. Dr. Shaup practices evidence-based care and has utilized CBT and ERP throughout her training and career, always eager to provide the best care to her clients. Since learning in 2021 about the substantial base of research supporting Inference-based CBT (I-CBT) and its efficacy in treatment for OCD, she has prioritized learning how best to use I-CBT in her practice. Dr. Shaup has received training directly from one of I-CBT’s creators, Dr. Frederick Aardema, and continues to provide treatment using CBT, I-CBT, and ERP, as well as support the dissemination of I-CBT to other treatment providers in the U.S. and international communities.

Mike Heady, LCPC

Mike Heady, LCPC is a full-time clinician and the Co-Owner & Co-Director of the Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland (ASDI) where he has specialized in the treatment of OCD, anxiety disorders, and related conditions for the last 16-years. He is a faculty member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDFs) Training Institute and a Clinical Fellow with the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA). As a former adjunct professor of psychology at McDaniel College and a regular presenter at annual conferences for the IOCDF and ADAA, Mike has a passion for learning and teaching. He provides clinical consultation to therapists and has produced numerous professional webinars for organizations including ADAA, IOCDF, NOCD as well as group practices and clinics across the U.S. on topics related to OCD treatment as well as training in ERP and I-CBT. He has appeared on several podcasts discussing I-CBT, ERP, shame, intimacy, perfectionism and other OCD and anxiety related issues.

Carl Robbins, LCPC

Carl Robbins LCPC is a psychotherapist with nearly 40 years experience in treating OCD and anxiety disorders. He is the Director of Training at the Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland and a clinical instructor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Mr. Robbins was one of the first US clinicians to use Inference-based CBT and remains committed to helping to disseminate this approach through training, consulting, podcasting, and using social media.
