About This Course

Description:
Inference-based CBT is an evidence-based treatment of choice for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I-CBT developed by Dr. Frederick Aardema and Dr. Kieron O''Connor. It is an upstream modality that targets the obsessional doubt of the OCD cycle. When the obsessional doubt is resolved, then the anxiety and compulsive aspects of OCD do not take place. I-CBT is completed through 12 modules. This training will give clinicians an introductory knowledge of I-CBT, and they will then be able to provide I-CBT treatment for clients with OCD.

Objectives

  • Explain at least two ways Inference-based CBT differs from Exposure and Response Prevention

  • Apply knowledge of Inference-based CBT to case conceptualization.

  • Explain the inferential confusion process.

  • Describe at least one key learning point in each of the twelve modules of Inference-based CBT.

  • Identify three tricks of OCD according to Inference-based CBT

  • Name the treatment target of Inference-based CBT

  • Describe where Obsessional Reasoning happens in the Obsessional Sequence.

  • Identify the role of imaginal absorption in OCD.

Target Audience: Introductory. For clinicians with little to no experience in the subject matter (I-CBT)
