This course in Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) offers clinicians a practical and engaging workshop in the MCT’s principles with a special focus on treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Led by Dr. Pia Callesen, a recognized expert in MCT, the course features theoretical insight, case studies and authentic video recordings of real therapy sessions, giving participants a unique opportunity to see MCT techniques in action and understand how they create meaningful change.
The course is designed to provide clinicians with both the insight and the hands-on skills needed to use MCT into their own therapeutic practice for GAD.

Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
Distinguish between the specific elements of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
Construct knowledge of the metacognitive model for GAD.
Construct a metacognitive case formulation for GAD with the patient.
Integrate and socialize the patient to the metacognitive model for GAD.
Build knowledge of metacognitive therapy for other anxiety disorders, such as health anxiety and panic disorder
Investigate Type 2 worry and challenging metacognitive beliefs such as uncontrollability and danger through guided discovery and behavioral experiments.
Target Audience: Intermediate. For clinicians with introductory knowledge of Metacognitive Therapy. For clinicians with experience who want to strengthen their skillset.

Pia Callesen, PhD
Dr Pia Callesen is a therapist and metacognitive specialist, managing several clinics in Denmark and providing metacognitive therapy online in English. She has a PhD from Manchester University and trained with the founder of metacognitive therapy at the MCT Institute. Her study into the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy for depression, published in Scientific Reports in 2020, suggests that MCT has considerable benefits which can exceed those of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She is the author of Live More Think Less (2020).
