Are you a trauma therapist who uses EMDR or CPT? Do you want to learn how you can keep those modalities in mind for co-occurring PTSD as you utilize I-CBT for OCD? This training is for you!
Description:
The growing interest in I-CBT gives us a new way of thinking about and treating OCD. Since PTSD is a common co-occurring condition (approximately 25% of those with OCD will experience PTSD at some point in their lives), we have the opportunity to look at OCD+PTSD cases through a new lens as well. EMDR and CPT are both evidence-based treatments for PTSD. This session will use the evidence-base of each modality (I-CBT, EMDR, and CPT) to demonstrate clinical considerations for how they may be applied together to treat co-occurring OCD+PTSD. This is an Intermediate - Advanced Course. In addition to introductory training in I-CBT, you should have a working knowledge of EMDR and/or CPT to get the most from this training OR be highly interested in getting further training in those modalities.
Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
Adapt I-CBT modules to identify potential targets/index event for further consideration for EMDR/CPT.
Distinguish between the Feared Possible Self in OCD and negative cognitions/stuck points in PTSD.
Utilize EMDR/CPT to work through specific negative cognitions/stuck points that are dynamic to OCD inferences.
Target Audience: Intermediate or Advanced. For clinicians with experience in the subject matter and want to strengthen their skillset.
Cost: $20
